These students spoke at our School Board Meeting last night. They did an outstanding job of reading their Opinion Writing assignment. Outstanding job! Thank you to Mrs. Miller and her students for sharing what they wrote and for such a great presentation!

Gifford Grade School would invite parents to take part in the 5Essentials Survey. We look forward to having parent input. There is information about the survey below. The survey can be accessed by this link:
Link for parents to take the survey: http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/
The survey closes March 31, 2023.
Is there a way for parents to participate in the survey?
Yes. As part of the Illinois 5Essentials Survey process, schools will have the opportunity to hear from their parent community. Schools are not required to administer the supplemental parent survey but are encouraged to participate. Parent survey results will only be reported to schools and school districts (i.e., the results will not be featured on the State School Report Card). Please note that the original 5Essentials research is based on the student and teacher surveys only.
Who is considered a parent and how do parents access the survey?
The supplemental parent survey is to be completed by parents, guardians, or other caregivers with a child in grades prekindergarten through 12. The parent survey is available in English and Spanish and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Parents of prekindergarten and kindergarten children will also be asked some additional questions as a part of the Essentials 0-5 Parent Survey. To complete the parent survey, please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/ and select Parent survey. Parents will also select the school for the child they wish to take the survey for, enter the total number of children they have attending the school, and their email address. While the email address field is optional, field entry is encouraged as email addresses help with duplicate survey detection. Parents who enter an email address will also receive a survey submission notification.
How long will the survey take?
The survey takes participants about 20 minutes to complete. In most cases, the survey is completed in under 30 minutes.
Are there any technical requirements to access the survey online?
To access the survey online, please use an up-to-date version of one of the following browsers:
Apple Safari
Google Chrome
Microsoft Edge
Mozilla Firefox
The supplemental parent survey is administered online. All responses are confidential and cannot be tracked to the individual respondent.
Please let the school know if you would need to access a computer at school to do the survey. Please contact the office and we will provide a computer for a parent to conduct the survey here at Gifford Grade School.
Thank you for your time and input.
Jared Ellison & Maggie Woodham
