Student Council working together to bring cheer to others

Student Council wants to spread Christmas Cheer to our GGS students far and near!
Merry Morning Monday- wear comfy clothes NO PJs
Top hat Tuesday- wear your favorite festive hat!
Wacky Wednesday- Dress like your favorite Christmas character
Tinsel Thursday- wear a festive scarf or neck gator
Festive Friday - Wear an ugly sweater

Just a friendly reminder that we will have an early dismissal Friday, December 11th at 11:45. Each student will be given a sack lunch on their way out of school.

Many thanks to our Gifford Grade School donors. Community Blood Services of Illinois was able to collect 32 units- enough to save 88 lives! See below for more details:

Kindergarten used the play doh they made to create their own turkeys! 🦃

Students had a budget of $80 to plan a Thanksgiving meal for six family members. It was hard work, but most everyone stayed under budget. Happy Thanksgiving from Third Grade!

After researching landforms, Third Grade created models with clay. Next week we will be painting them. 🏞🗻🌋

Kindergarten used Jamboard to play a math game with a partner!

Student Council members worked together to prepare "care packages" for local Veterans. They decorated the front of the building with flags and ribbons in the trees. The care packages contained a star cookie, bookmark and handwritten card. Veteran's got their bags by a "drive-up" method. They also sent care packages to the Veteran's at the nursing home in Gifford.

Student Council steps up to honor our local Veterans

Today Third Grade created Picture Dictionaries for their vocabulary words. All the kiddos have become Chromebook wizards this year!

To honor the men and women who have served our country, the Gifford Grade School Student Council along with Helping Hands would like to hand out “care packages” at a DRIVE-UP tribute on Wednesday, Nov. 11 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM in the parking lot at Gifford Grade School. If you are a veteran or have a veteran in your family, we invite you to call the school (217-568-7733) to reserve your care package. Please let us know the honored Veteran’s name, spelled out and their phone number. We ask that you please stay in your vehicle and a Student Council member will bring your care package to your vehicle. *Remember to reserve your care package no later than Friday, Nov. 6.

Kindergarten practiced sight words with a Halloween themed game 🎃

The votes are in and our Eagle mascot officially has a name - Eagle Eye McBird!

Scramble Success!
